Unique safety features

The system provides real-time dose rate reduction (Dosicath®) and a controlled radiation protection zone figured on the floor with lasers (Laserguard®).

DOSICATH®

This proprietary technology displays real-time dose rate from inside and outside of the device. It allows for immediate corrective actions in case of dose leakage caused by incorrect system positioning.

LASERGUARD®

This proprietary technology, specifically designed for Nova-X®, delineates a zone on the floor where radiation protection is effective for Healthcare providers. Nova-X® is the only full-body radiation protection system offering this key safety feature.

Outstanding ergonomics

Nova-X® offers outstanding ergonomics to limit its footprint and ensure perfect fit with any cathlab.

BI-PLANE & SINGLE PLANE COMPATIBILITY

Thanks its flexible frame and specially designed front wheels, Nova-X® is compatible with bi-plane c-arms (all incidences) and with any imaging system.

What are the main benefits of Nova-X®?

It protects integrally the whole team from head to toe from radiations. Using the Nova-X®, the principal operator reduces its daily radiation exposure by eleven and eliminate the radiation-induced diseases. It also opens the possibility to work without the lead apron responsible for severe musculoskeletal disorders today.

What are the main features of Nova-X®?

1. It the only solution today available on the market that provide 2 mm lead equivalence on 70% of the product surface against 0.5 mm for conventional shielding equipment and 1 mm for competitive systems

2. It is protected by more than 10 patents with unique materials (Novashield®, RX-31®…) that offers a perfect yellowing resistance for example or full flexibility to perfectly adapt this complex environment

3. It offers unique features on the market
Dosicath®: real-time dose reduction display
Laserguard®: radiation-controlled zone materialized with green laser beams on the floor
Diamond glass®: no yellowing after time and usage of cleaning liquid. It does improve visibility

4. It is the only solution available on the market that demonstrated its performances with a multicentric study in neuroradiology using very sensitive operational dosimeters

5. It is the only solution to evaluate the dose for stochastic effect to fully provide scientific elements to work without the lead apron in centers for which it is the main objective / goal

Is there a patient benefit?

Of course, indirectly.
Nova-X® creates a virtuous circle once installed in the cathlab: Better working conditions for the operator induces less stress and fatigue and sick leaves + attract new profile (best physicians, female physicians) which induces hospital attractiveness and better patient care.

Is it still needed to wear the lead apron?

Based on the results of our last clinical study, the use of our system clearly open the possibility to work without lead individual protections.
The calculation of the effective dose to assess stochastic risk alone is 1.33 without Nova-X® and 1.24 with Nova-X®. This result and the achievement of exposure reduction factors of more than 90% on unprotected anatomical areas (deterministic risk) will make it possible to consider the possibility of working without a lead apron.
Under these conditions, it is the decision of the people in charge of radiation protection in the hospital and the interventional team to decide to wear or not an apron.

What are the contra-indications?

There are no contra-indications. The performances of the product have not been evaluated with the jugular access, for patient with size inferior to 1m (children) and for peripheral procedures.

Is it compatible with radial / femoral right and left?

Yes, the system is compatible with radial and femoral access site (left or right).

Does it irradiate more the patient?

No, the system does not irradiate the patient more. Our multicentric study didn’t demonstrate a higher DAP or statistical impact on the DAP with the Nova-X®. A study made in Portugal in CV with our previous generation (CathPax AIR®) showed that the fluoroscopy time and dose wasn’t increased.

Is it difficult to remove the system in case of emergency?

It takes a few seconds to remove the system from the Patient table.

How much time does it take to drape the system?

It takes around 2 minutes to drape entirely the system. It can be performed during the Patient preparation/draping.

Can I test the system?

Yes! Cathpax or our local representative perform demonstration-on-site of the product up to 10 days. The clinical team installs the system in the demo site and performs the education and training around the draping process and product use. In addition Cathpax can supply operational dosimeters to evaluate the dose reduction using Nova-X® in the demo site.

Is it compatible with bi-plane C-arm?

Nova-X® is fully compatible with bi-plane C-arms.
